When time is an issue, #2 accelerates the process by completely drying out your weapon. For instance, when I go to the range, I rarely take just one gun and I clean them every time I shoot. I also have a four year-old daughter who wants to help daddy clean them. To get done as quickly as possible I use #2 to remove any remaining #1, oils and whatever soils remain in suspension. This wash is not only a drying agent but acts as a second cleaning step. Your weapon will be absolutely dry and ready for lubrication after this step.
